School of Fashion MFA alumna Bell Quintão continues to make waves in the footwear design industry as she bags not one, not two, but three Honorable Mentions at the 2021 International Design Awards (IDA).
IDA is an award-giving platform that seeks to “recognize, celebrate and promote exceptional design visionaries and discover emerging talent in Architecture, Interior, Product, Graphics and Fashion Design worldwide.”
The three Honorable Mentions she earned for her collection Ruffled Burgeon were for the following categories: Accessory-Footwear, Accessory-Bags, Footwear-Genuine Leather Shoes.
Ruffled Burgeon is described as a “mind-bending collection focused on the intriguing and fascinating shapes, textures and details of the fungi kingdom, specially mushrooms – with 3D printed heels and handles.”
Just recently, Bell also made the news for winning the 2nd Gucci X Artsthread Global Design Graduate Show, wherein over 5,000 students from 10 countries and 417 art and design universities and colleges around the world submitted their works for the competition.
From fashion school, she plans to take her skills higher by continuing her Academy education in the coming Fall semester. This time, she will be taking up a course from the School of Industrial Design, IND: 232 01: Footwear and Soft-Goods Modeling, to further hone her craft particularly with 3-D modeling.
